Design Engineer. Burnaby, BC


General Summary:

Race Face & Easton Cycling, with the support of our parent Fox, are continuing to expand. At our facilities in Burnaby, we engineer, produce, distribute and market some of the world’s best bicycle components. With additional manufacturing facilities in Taiwan, we sell to dealers, distributors and original equipment manufacturers around the world.

Position Overview:

Applies engineering principles to design, develop, or modify products from 3D modeling through to production, based on customer feedback, sales requirements, and industry knowledge. Responsible for managing all aspects of assigned projects. Provides direction to the design team on areas of focus and expertise.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Designs and develops new, or complete modifications to, existing products, jigs, fixtures and tools.
  • Determines feasibility of designs considering costs, time limitations, planning, and other technical and economic factors.
  • Ensures completeness of production qualification, including testing and manufacturing capability verification.
  • Carries out design for manufacturability and prepares manufacturing documentation as required to support product manufacture.
  • Works with manufacturing team on vendor sourcing, selection, and contract negotiations.
  • Provides direction to factories and suppliers on processes.
  • Collaborates with development team to meet project performance, schedule and cost objectives.
  • Engages production team to review drawings, documents, and CAD models.
  • Communicates project status and solicits feedback from Sales, Marketing, Production, Quality and other departments.
  • Develops experimental test procedures, including test rig design and data acquisition.
  • Carries out physical testing of products.
  • Travels as required to meet with vendors and customers.


Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of product development experience
  • Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Must have experience with engineering tools such as 3D Modeling, FEA, and dFMEA.
  • Requires strong knowledge of complex mechanical mechanisms and assemblies, materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong bicycle component knowledge, including mechanical aptitude in building and troubleshooting bicycles and components is a benefit.

Manufacturing Engineer. Burnaby, BC

Position Overview:

Race Face Easton has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer that will perform a key role in the production of composites products and in achieving quality and efficiency goals. This role evaluates, develops, and improves manufacturing processes utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, processes, equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality standards. This position will work closely with suppliers, vendors, and the Operations group and Product Development team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develops, evaluates, and enhances manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and tooling costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Provides production line support including, but not limited to, implementing process improvements, troubleshooting equipment, and addressing operator inquiries.
  • Designs and installs manufacturing equipment, jigs, fixtures and tools as required.
  • Generates and modifies manufacturing process documentation and assuring that manufacturing processes and related documentation follow established policies and procedures.
  • Prepares Process Flow Charts, PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) documents, Control Plans and Work Instructions.
  • Utilizes LEAN, Six Sigma, and other best practice tools and principles for day-to-day problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Consults with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Completes design and development projects including training and guiding technicians.
  • Generates and modifies component and assembly drawings. Support assembly with designs of jigs and fixtures.
  • Writes and executes process and equipment validations.
  • Support physical testing programs for production validation and on-going quality of parts, both in the field and in the test lab.
  • Develop test procedures and standards, including test rig design and data acquisition as required.
  • Ensure completeness of production qualification, including testing and manufacturing capability verification.
  • Performs equipment maintenance by following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures.
  • Work within the Product Development team to review drawings, documents, and CAD models, as well as partner with this team to meet project timing and cost targets.
  • Travel is required to meet with suppliers and other company sites.


Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Applied Science, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years relevant experience.
  • Experience with mechanical, hydraulic and electrical control systems in a production environment.
  • Experience with best practice manufacturing methods, processes, and engineering tools.
  • Experience with manufacturing quality: which includes APQP understanding, control plans, process flow charts, PFMEA.
  • Strong CAD skills: PTC Creo preferred.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team skills required.
  • Strong technical bicycle knowledge, including mechanical aptitude in building and troubleshooting bicycles and components.

Junior Graphic Designer / Production Artist. Burnaby, BC

General Summary:

Do you have a passion for design and cycling? At Race Face and Easton Cycling we produce industry leading products and cutting-edge marketing campaigns. We’re looking for a passionate, outdoor enthusiast to join our talented team.

We are seeking a junior designer with strong attention to detail to execute on accurate production artwork. You will be supporting and learning from the senior designer on a variety of projects such as updating production drawings, revising packaging, creating installation guides and image preparation. This creative role has the potential to expand into increased collaboration with the engineering department on product design. The ideal teammate is extremely organized, has the ability to multitask and is capable of working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Production drawing updates.
  • Creating installation guides.
  • Preparing print and digital for ads and banners.
  • Preparing assets for tradeshows and events.
  • Assist in catalog and website updates and development.
  • Manage digital assets across multiple channels.

Requirements:

  • Possess proficient skill level with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Speed and efficiency with these programs is a must.
  • Strong design and production skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, showing flexibility to adapt to changing timelines and priorities.
  • Must have excellent understanding of conceptual design, layout, and typography principles.
  • Experience with adhering to brand standards and design guides.
  • Strong organizational skills, project planning abilities, timeline management, and attention to details.
  • Industrial design experience is an asset but not required.

Francophone Warranty and Customer Service Representative. Burnaby, BC

General Summary: The Warranty/Customer Service Representative will manage the day-to-day details related to supporting the Easton Cycling and Race Face dealer base and outside Sales Reps. This includes daily communication (phone, email or social media), fulfilling all of the needs & requests for ordering, warranty and shipping product in a timely and efficient manner.

Core functions:

  • Develop strong relationships with dealer accounts in Quebec and Maritime territories to encourage sales growth and solidify strong brand perception
  • Processes returns/warranties and complete service per department procedures
  • Respond effectively to customer, dealer and distributor inquiries to ensure good business relations and satisfied customers
  • Proactively communicate persistent quality control issues within the department and to other departments as necessary

Specific Duties:

  • Attracts potential customers by answering product and service questions; suggesting information about other products and services in a professional and positive manner
  • Resolve customer requests via phone, email, mail, or social media
  • Assist with placement of orders, refunds, or exchanges
  • Opens customer accounts by recording account information. Maintains customer records by updating account information
  • Respond effectively to dealer inquiries to ensure good business relations
  • Analyze data to identify sales and service opportunities
  • Provide feedback to Sales manager as needed

Warehouse Associate

Reporting to the warehouse manager, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Loading or unloading product from truck/trailer/container outside, sometime while it is raining;
  • Put away product;
  • Count product;
  • Kit product;
  • Pick and pack product;
  • Ship using UPS/FedEx and other computer applications;
  • Sweep/mop floors, empty garbage bins, take out trash.

Must Haves:

  • Must be able to read and clearly communicate in English;
  • Must be able to work fast pace and be accurate;
  • Must be able to follow verbal directions;
  • Must be able to lift up to 49 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation;
  • Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours;
  • Must be able to count and do basic math;
  • Must be willing and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach;
  • Must be willing and comfortable with repetitive task;
  • Must have basic computer skills and know how to operate a computer and computer software;
  • Must have three years experience working in warehouse environment.

Work Environment:

  • Work with and/or around moving mechanical parts;
  • Noise level varies and can be loud;
  • Temperature in the warehouse may vary between 15 and 32 degrees Celsius, and will occasionally exceed 32 degrees
  • Very fast-paced environment.
