Team BMC Racing to Rely On Easton Wheels in 2010 Giro D’Italia

Evans, Hincapie and Ballan among BMC Riders relying on Easton wheels in the 93rd edition of the Italian Grand Tour

(Scotts Valley, CA, March 26, 2010) Easton wheels will make their first appearance in the Giro D’Italia this May thanks to the selection of the BMC Racing Team to compete in the 2010 Italian Grand Tour. Easton is the exclusive wheel supplier of BMC, a American squad that has quickly ascended to the ranks of the world’s top teams.

The Giro’s organizers announced on Monday, March 22nd that BMC is among the 22 teams selected for the three week long race. “BMC Racing has elevated its program to be considered one of the best in the world and we believe Easton wheels will help them as they strive for even greater success,” says Chuck Platt, Easton’s Senior Sports Marketing Manager. “We’re excited to see Cadel (Evans), Allesandro Ballan and the rest of the squad do battle with the always impressive Italian scenery as the backdrop.”
BMC riders Cadel Evans, George Hincapie and Allesandro Ballan are among the riders that are currently slated to rely on Easton’s lightweight, high-performance wheels in the three-week long, 2,124-mile event.

The Giro begins in Amsterdam on May 8 and concludes in Verona on May 30 with a 10-mile individual time trial. At the end of the second week of the race, riders will face the punishing climb of Monte Zoncolan—only the third time the climb has been featured in the Giro. BMC Racing is a key partner in the research and development of Easton’s world-renowned carbon and aluminum wheels. The team will rely on an arsenal of light, but stiff and dependable handbuilt wheels in the Giro d’Italia and other stops on the European Pro Tour this season.
